From Clueless To Clued

Imagine an alien from another planet, with the intelligence of a turnip, being dropped in the middle of our planet and being asked to find its way around. Many people looking to make a living from home are THAT clueless when it comes to "Where do I start?"
For some of you, this is already an article that’s ending up in the "Thanks, but I’m way past that stage" trash bin. But you might want to read this anyway. Know why? I can’t tell you how many people I’ve coached who already started on this journey and missed a TON of steps along the way. And then I ask them how they’re doing and they say, "Okay, could be better…but okay."
That’s pretty much what happens when you miss some key ingredients. Naturally, I can’t cover the whole spectrum of how to go from clueless to clued, but I am going to give you some tips in this article that I think just might help. If not, there’s always that trash bin.
Probably the biggest problem new folks have when they’re first starting out is weeding their way through all the choices. Think about how many different ways there are to make a living online. You can sell a product, put up a membership site, sell a service via freelancing. Heck, there are even companies online who will hire virtual assistants if you’re into working a job. There is no shortage of ways to make money.
And that may be the biggest problem of all…focus.
No, I’m not a head shrink and I don’t have a magic formula for being able to focus on doing just one thing. But here’s something that just might make the process a little easier, even though a lot of people will disagree with this. I will explain why shortly.
Sit down and write down all the things you love to do and pick ONE of them.
Then think about how you can make ANYTHING from that interest. Certainly if YOU’RE interested in it, other people have to be interested in it as well…right?
And, unless it’s something that you can do with your brain and nothing else, there has to be some expense involved with doing it. Maybe there are tools you have to buy.
For example, I love writing songs. Now, a lot of people love to write songs but don’t know how. Hey, I could write a book on how to write songs. Think maybe I might make some sales from it? A little research shows me that there are tons of songwriting books out there…so there is definitely a market for this.
I also love video games. Hey, I could become a game tester or reviewer and sell video games as an affiliate through something like Amazon.com. Write a good review and people will buy from you. I know I would.
Hey, I also like to write. I could make a living writing. In fact, I do…a damn good one.
Okay, the point I am trying to make is this…you don’t have to beat your head against a stone wall to come up with something to do. By looking at your own interests, where your heart REALLY is, you’ll find things that you’re passionate about enough to put the effort in to make it work.
So the people I ask, the ones who aren’t so successful, ultimately end up telling me that they just picked something because somebody said they could make a lot of money in that niche. They didn’t really have an interest in it other THAN the money.
What happens is the person puts in a lackluster effort and that lackluster effort translates into lackluster dollars.
At least that’s been my experience.
So if you’re clueless as to where to being, look to where your heart is at.
You just might find the answer to all your money making problems.
To YOUR Success,
Steven Wagenheim
